A GPS by Navman with a free lifetime subscription to real-time traffic support

Posted by Mitesh Ashar on September 18th, 2007

Navman S-seriesA New Zealand based manufacturer of Global Positioning Systems (also known as GPS), Navman has recently announced some new systems. To be specific, they have announced four devices that will most certainly please everyone because the prices can range from £150 to £300, which means that almost everyone has a chance to buy one thanks to the availability of low-budget models.

Their best and most expensive model, known as Navman S90i, is priced in US$ and is estimated to be $600. It comes with the usual 4.3″ touchscreen display and has maps from the European Tele Atlas. Besides the obvious Bluetooth function that every decent GPS must have, the S90i has 2GB of built-in memory, and a processor from Samsung running @ 400Mhz.

Other features include a slot for SD/MMC memory cards, and a 2-megapixel camera to take photos or shoot videos. One positive point goes for the real-time traffic support, which in this case comes with a free lifetime subscription, meaning that the $600 are well spent in case you are a traffic maniac and don’t like to wait in the traffic.

As for the other models and their prices, there are the Navman S70 and S50 that also feature a 4.3-inch display, but on the other hand don’t come with all the features that the S90i has. The price tags are £200 ($400) for the S70 and £180 ($360) for the S50.

The low-budget model – S30 – has a smaller 3.5″ LCD screen, and doesn’t come with Bluetooth or Traffic info.
